This is a summary and display of all the work I completed while in the Introduction to Geographic Information Systems. I was very new, and was just beginning to grasp the concepts of the very complex and pretty intimidating ArcGIS program, but I think it was a very successful class, although very stressful.
This was where my knowledge really began to come together. I gained a much deeper understanding of the program and how to use it more effectively. Tasks that used to seem overly complicated and difficult began to make sense and become second nature, while newer and more challenging tasks were taking their place. I feel like many more courses are truly needed to fully cover such an expansive program, but I really gained a lot of knowledge from this class and look forward to learning much more on my own in the future.
In order to beat the catch 22 of needing experience to get a job and job to get experience, I felt it would be a good idea to do a meaningful and beneficial capstone project. Through the recommendation of Dr. Doug Oetter, I got a job working for City Hall in Milledgeville under the Zoning Administrator of the City of Milledgeville, Mrs. Mervin Graham.
